Mommies in Clear Lake [03 Aug 2009|05:37pm]

ellem85
Playgroups are a great way for kids to learn to socialize, share with others and be exposed to new ways of play. It’s great for Mom too! You'll meet other moms in the area and share advice and stories. We are a small playgroup so members and their children can get to know each other better and see the same faces at Playdates. This helps kids build confidence so they can build friendships. We meet every mom in person before allowing them to access the group. This ensures the privacy of our members and group information.

We offer:

~Free membership
~3-4 playdates a week
~Opportunities to build friendships for your child(ren) AND yourself
~A forum to chat about everyday life or parenting questions.
~ Coupon Train
~ Book Club

Fun things we do include:

~Potluck parties (for the entire family, not just mom & kids)
~Mom’s Night Out
~Coffee dates
~Beach/Park dates
~Venues such as The Space Center, Zoo, Libraries
~Lunch dates @ kid friendly areas
~Gathering at members homes for crafts, snacks & play time

Email us at MommiesinClearLake@gmail.com or visit https://www.bigtent.com/groups/micl and we will get back to you with information about upcoming playdates!

MASERATI(members of !!!) @ the mink FRIDAY [06 Sep 2007|03:56pm]

fvgazi
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 7th:

MASERATI
"I have never been one to steer clear of hyperbole, and so it is with great pride and conviction that I embark on this over- the-top endorsement of what may well be the greatest band to ever call Athens home. From their early days as post-emo-reformed-math experimenters, Maserati showed promise, but with last year's addition of dynamo Jerry Fuchs (who for my money is the greatest living rock drummer), the group embraced the misunderstood and oft-maligned universe of psychedelic rock, introducing a healthy dose of Pink Floyd and Can to their already compelling prog-punk mix. Drunk on the power of this newfound experimental freedom, Maserati continues to evolve in ways their built-in hipster audience might not fully appreciate but lovingly laps up all the same."
- Ryan Lewis, Athens Banner-Herald

SATURDAY AUGUST 4TH, 2007 - THE ONE AM RADIO / THE LYMBYC SYSTYM / THE RACE / OPPRESSED BY THE LINE<

THE ONE AM RADIO (dangerbird)
born and raised in peabody, massachusetts to indian parents, hrishikesh hirway began performing as the one am radio in 1998 in new haven, connecticut, a junior at yale at the time. following a gig supporting a solo ted leo that sparked a collaboration between the two, the one am radio released a split 7” with ted leo that laid the foundation for the future of his musical endeavors. originally performing solo with an acoustic guitar and a drum loop backing him, hrishikesh gradually began expanding his repertoire by including taped drum loops in his compositions and eventually recording and editing his own beats via the use of live drums and his computer. currently, the one am radio performs with a setup consisting of hrishikesh on guitar, vocals, and laptop duties accompanied by an upright bassist, second guitarist, a french horn player, and a cellist. this too will pass, the one am radio’s third full-length lp follows a handful of critically acclaimed eps and full-length records including 2004’s a name writ in water and his 2002 debut album the hum of electric air!

THE LYMBYC SYSTYM (mush)
hailing from tempe, arizona, jared and michael bell formed lymbyc systym late in 2001. drawing inspiration from the groups tortoise, explosions in the sky, and four tet, their compositions cleverly combine vintage keyboards, infectious melodies, analog effects, dynamic drumming, and intricate laptop programming to form melodic and cohesive tracks that blur the borders between post-rock, indie-rock, and folktronica. as the opening act for the album leaf, mice parade, and a slew of other national acts that have visited the southwest, the brothers have developed a truly impressive live show. from their self-release debut EP, carved by glaciers, to the current music for mush, lymbyc systym have quickly carved out a place in the bustling underground music scene.

THE RACE (flameshovel)
"like any travelogue worth undertaking, ice station concerns itself not as much with the destination as the process of reaching it, and each song is a keenly crafted and ingratiating set piece documenting an imagined journey. much of the record's crystalline desolation is no doubt due to klein's collaborator joshua eustis, previously known for his sharp, electronic dissonance with telefon tel aviv. here, the guitars purr robotically, the drums are as flat and unforgiving as the white tundra, and klein's voice resonates like a warm radio signal. echoes of dark, pliable post-punk bass appear frequently, as does the lonesome electro-gloom of casiotone for the painfully alone and the understated eccentricity of early pinback, but klein's work here is set apart by its clean, simple approach to moody expressionism." - pitchfork media on their album ice station
